Casa Piedra opens to retreat hosts Spring 2027 - founding host applications now open.

The rolling hills and limestone mountains of inland Alicante

Where you’ll find us

Inland Alicante - mountain villages, ancient paths and Mediterranean light.

Casa Piedra sits in a quiet corner of inland Alicante that most visitors never find. The landscape is dramatic and unhurried: limestone mountains, terraced hillsides, almond and olive groves, and villages that have changed little in centuries. It is 1.5 hours from Alicante airport, forty minutes from the coast, and a world away from the busyness of city life.

Getting here

The house is only reachable by car. There is no public transport.

By air

Alicante-Elche airport is the closest - well served from the UK and across Europe. Valencia airport is also 1.5 hours drive away.

By car

The drive through the mountains is part of the experience.

By train

The nearest train stations are in Alcoy and Xàtiva, but from either you would still need a car to get up into the mountains.

Arrange transport

Private transfers can be arranged on your behalf. Inquire for more details.

What’s nearby

The good stuff

It’s likely you’ll want to stay at Casa Piedra, venturing on hikes straight from the house (there are plenty around!). But if you or your guests do want to venture out, see below.

Hiking

  • Font Roja Natural Park - Ancient forest, marked trails and extraordinary views - 30 minutes away.
  • Mariola Natural Park - Medicinal herbs, mountain paths and wild landscape - 20 minutes away.
  • Straight from the house - There are plenty of walks that begin right at the door.

Places to visit

  • Guadalest - A fortified village perched on a rock, with castle ruins and a turquoise reservoir below.
  • Fonts d’Algar - Natural waterfalls and rock pools - beautiful for a swim in summer.
  • Local markets - Weekly village markets for seasonal produce, olives and honey.

The Coast

  • Altea - Whitewashed old town, pebble beaches and a blue-domed church.
  • Gandia - Sandy beaches and a historic ducal palace.
